It's important to realize that your homeowners' insurance does not automatically cover items of unusual value such as antiques and collectibles. I'm calling it Collecting Objects for now and it's about collectors, collections, and those who are connected in some way (think antique dealers, auctioneers, etc).

On this form, you list each of the items you have donated along with some basic information about them, including "fair market value" and "method used to arrive at fair market value." An appraiser is trained in this kind of market research and likely spends much of their time monitoring market conditions.
