MARLBOROUGH, MA – A drawing by Auguste Rodin dated to 1900 was offered at Bonhams Skinner with a modest $7,000-$9,000 estimate as part of its European Art sale on May 22. Bids started at just $3,200 but quickly escalated to a completely unexpected hammer price of $95,000, selling for $121,600 with buyer’s premium.

NEWBURY, UK — Five examples of Wedgwood’s copy of the Portland vase come for sale at Dreweatts on Thursday, June 27 as part of the Stanley F. Goldfein collection of ceramics. Variously dated to 1789-1791, each of the five vases — three in black jasper, two in powder blue — has an estimate of £4,000-£6,000 ($5,100-$7,600).
