Reviving Unworn Jewelry

When it comes to jewelry, we all have those pieces that we just don't wear anymore. They sit in our jewelry box with the thought that we will wear them someday, but never do. That's where jewelry redesign comes in. Recently, one of my clients came to me with some gold items and pins that she no longer wore. We tried to sell them as finished pieces, but unfortunately we didn't have any buyers.

I do love a bonkers thing, but not as much as I love a good story. A chance find of a richly-coloured oil on canvas that made me smile last weekend fulfills both. ‘Dolls & Tureen’, oil on canvas, by Lilian de Glehn Thibaut, painted between 1924 and 1935. At first I thought they were people, then I saw the tureen and shell, realised the scale, and saw that they were dolls.
