We’ve all been there before. You drive for an hour for an inspection. When you get there, you knock on the door, only to have it opened by the kids. You ask them if their parents are home, to which they respond, “No.” When you call the parents, they say something like, “Oh, I’m not home right now, but the kids will let you in.” Now what? A problem that I’ve run into several times during my coaching, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, is rush orders. Appraisers don’t know what to do. They’re scheduled out 4, 5, 8 weeks, and then they get a call from someone they’ve done business for for years with a rush order that needs to be done as soon as possible. They don’t want to disappoint their clients, but they also don’t have time to fit the rush order in.

I suck. No, really I do. I am a sad specimen of a human being. I know what I should do every day to live a healthy, productive, and wealthy lifestyle, but I don’t do it. Well, I do it much of the time, but I just am not as consistent as I should be. As a mentor for others, I feel especially aware of my less than stellar actions.
