Audubon is shown here in an engraving by H.B. It was said that the 1833 Henry Inman oil painting was the portrait that Audubon personally liked the best. In Germany, Bierstadt came to be deeply impressed by the tradition of heroic painting for which the Düsseldorf Academy was famous. These ephemeral images were followed by a much more polished and sumptuous print of a oil painting, “Sunlight and Shadow,” which Bierstadt painted in 1862 based on sketches he had made while in Germany.

May I say that I really like this owl painting, would you tell me something more about it ? It’s a 1920s oil painting of a Tawny Owl by Lodewijk Van Der Steen 1891-1954, circa 1928. No one should leave empty handed, and this is one great painting of an owl! A really unusual subject. 1st Edition George Thomas Paice 1854-1925.
