Swann Galleries, New York City Photos courtesy Swann Galleries For its April 4 sale of African American art, Swann Galleries offered 239 lots of paintings, watercolors, prints, photography, and sculpture and featured a special evening session called “Art for Life” of contemporary works sold to benefit the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

Wilson graciously donated this series of 53 original watercolors, as well as the reproduction print rights, to benefit the Cottonwood Institute, an organization that connects underprivileged children with nature through outdoor activities and skill development. The exhibition will be on view until September.

One book, "Audubon in Florida" first published in 1974 from the University of Miami Press was especially helpful in identifying the birds that were the Florida species that he found and rendered life-sized in his original watercolors. The book's author Kathryn Hall Proby ( b. " high by 29.5" Whatman paper.

If it is a print, is it an original print with a hand signature, a reproduction print done after the artist's lifetime, or in the case of contemporary artists, was it mass produced in an unlimited quantity?
